ABSTRACT

Objective To compare the difference of ultrasound and digital subtraction anginography (DSA) in diagnosing carotid atheriosclerosis. Methods A total of 340 patients of ischemic cerebrovascular disease with carotid atheriosclerosis were examined with ultrasound and DSA. They were divided into cerebral infarction group (n=235) and transient ischemic attack (TIA, n=105), and also were divided into the young-aged group (n=54), middle-aged group (n=137) and old-aged group (n=149) by age. Results Both of the ultrasound and DSA found that the incidence of carotid artery stenosis in cerebral infarction was higher than that in TIA (P<0.05);the incidence that of carotid artery stenosis in old-aged group were higher than that in middle-aged and young-aged group (P<0.05), and in middle-aged group was higher than that in young-aged group. Taking DSA as standard, the accordance rate of ultrasound in diagnosing stenosis, clot and both of them were 89.39%, 80.85%, 87.15%, respectively. Conclusion Carotid artery ultrasound has high sensitivity in diagnosis of carotid atheriosclerosis. Either carotid artery ultrasound or DSA has advantages. With combination of two methods, there will be an important significance in the diagnosis, clinical treatment, assess before operation and follow-up after operation in patients with carotid atheriosclerosis.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis(CVST)and evaluate the diagnosis and treatment.Methods All the medical records,including age,mode of onset,clinical manifestations,findings of neuro-imaging and prognosis were analyzed.retrospectively in 53 cases with CVST from August 2003 to May 2008 in Beijing Tian Hospital.Results Of the 53 cases(22 men,31 women),aged from 15 to 52(mean 34.92±9.69)years.Acute or sub-acme onset accounted mostly.The principal clinical characteristics were headache and vomit,weak sight,diplopia,focal deficit,conscious disturbance and seizures.The neuro-imaging findings of CVST were venous sinus occlusion and local infarction,sometimes accompanied by capillary hemorrhage or haematoma.The major treatment involve dehydration,anticoagulation,and thrombolysis or stent implanted.After the treatment,12 cases recovered completely,37 improved,2 invalided,and 2 cases discharged for herniation of brain.Conclusion Improvement in awareness of CVST and prompt MRI in combination with MRV examination is the key to accurate diagnosis and timely therapy.The treatment of CVST should be based on anticoagulatin,and acompanyed.by thrombolysis or stent implanted in cerebral venous sinus on the baisis of effect.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) is widely used as acetabulum. The hip joint will produce lots of grind particles and lead to loosening of artificial joint because of alternating load and bad lubricate condition.OBJECTIVE: To learn about the lubricate mechanism of joint, introduce the present situation on artificial hip joint of UHMWPE including wear behavior and wear resistance properties, and grope for scientific evaluate method of tribological properties in artificial joints.RETRIEVAL STRATEGY: The articles published between January 2000 and October 2007 were searched by using computer with the key terms "hip joint, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, tribology" in CNKI, Weipu Science and Technology Database, Wanfang Database, and its language was limited to Chinese. Meanwhile, the English articles were searched in IEEE/IEE Electronic Library and Elsevier Electronic Journal Database with the key terms "hip simulators, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, tribology ". Those referring to the friction and wear property of the joints were included, whereas repeated researches were deleted.LITERATURE EVALUATION: Totally 729 articles were received. After the primary screening of the titles and abstracts, 601 repeated or similar researches were excluded, and other 128 articles were adopted for further analysis, finally 22 articles in accordance with the inclusion criteria were included as references.DATA SYNTHESIS: The study about UHMWPE focused two points, one is surface modification, the other is wear and friction mechanism.①The study indicates that wear properties of UHMWPE can be improved by surface modification, such as ion implantation and nanometer padding have a remarkable elevating ability of the wear and mechanical properties.②At recent years, scholars do many basal experiences about the tribology of hip joints, and have approved that wear rate of friction pairs would reduce under biological lubricate condition using artificial joint simulators or traditional tester in various conditions.CONCLUSION: The study about hip joint in China drops behind the developed counties, this traditional method can not really reflect wear and friction properties in vivo. Therefore, the following research should include making clear the relationships of load, environmental condition and wear of artificial joint in vivo, as well as groping for a scientific evaluate method of tribological properties in hip joints.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate blood-brain barrier around the hematoma in patients harin g hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage. Methods Tissues from blood-brain barrier around t he hematoma were collected, and at the same time to cerebeal hemorrha gic patients the hematoma extracting. Results Within asuper early peroid (7 hours) and acute peroid (72 hours) a nd subacute peroid (4~7 days) of the cerebral hemorrhage, the tissues of blood-brain barrier observed under electronic micrscop e, showed that the damagement of the blood-brain barrier was increas ed in direct proprotion to the length of time and the patients presenting a relevant clinical manifestation mean-while.Conclusion The changes of blood-brain berrier is more importment for a t imely treatment, and a hemotoma extracting is suggested as to improving the live qua lity of patients.
